Membership benefits

The Active WAC membership comes with a few benefits we think you’ll like!

Being a member you will have reduced admission rates for playgroups, classes and events, you will be able to use the WAC library and have a very low fee to pay for room rentals. An Active WAC membership is required in order to enroll at the Learning Tree Cooperative School.

For adults who do not have children enrolled in our school and are not interested in children related activities, there is an option of Adult Social membership which would offer member rates for all adult activities organized at the WAC (Potluck club, Dinner club, Book club. Painting workshops and more).

Everyone is welcome but becoming a member has its advantages. Join now!

Playgroups

We offer two playgroups that provide fun activities for children and babies to experience while developing sensory, social and communication skills. Our playgroups also give moms, dads, grandparents, caregivers, children, and babies from all different nationalities a great way to meet together in a relaxed and friendly English-speaking environment.

WAC Cafè

Come and join us for coffee, cake and company on Wednesday afternoons (14:00 - 17:00). Bring your sense of humor and sit and relax in our Garden.

Potluck Club/Dinner Club

The Potluck is a bi-monthly event that takes place in the club room at the WAC. It is a pot luck style dinner for members to share an evening without kids. Themes rotate and each attendee is responsible for contributing a part of the meal.  Past themes have been British, Lebanese, Australian and Paleo.  Free for WAC members, non-members are also welcome at a nominal charge.

Every other month a group of members meet for our Dinner Club, and try out different restaurants in the local area. This is a great way to meet other members, socialise and enjoy some good food!

Readers Gone WACky Book Club

The Readers Gone WACky is a group of readers who meet on a regular basis to discuss a selected book.  Members meet approximately once a month at 8PM on Wednesday evenings at the WAC.  Books are selected twice a year based on members’ suggestions. The Readers Gone WACky currently consists of about 10 members from several different countries. Free for WAC members, non-members are also welcome at a nominal charge.

Morning Book Club

The Morning Book Club members meet once a month to discuss a selected book with a cup of tea/coffee in hand. Small children are welcome to join their parent.

Groups, Events and Courses

Each year the WAC is able, through the organizational skills of our member volunteers, to offer a wide variety of groups, events and courses for children and adults. Groups offer an opportunity for members with common interests to come together.

We also have an annual BBQ party which is free to WAC members, plus parties at Halloween and Christmas.

Library

For many years, the WAC has been able to offer an English library to its members. A wide variety of children’s picture books, readers, and fiction are available. In addition to our books, we also have an extensive collection of DVDs.

Volunteers open the library at scheduled times so that members can check out books and DVDs at a time that is convenient for them. Working as a library volunteer is a great way to get involved with the club. If you are interested, contact our Library Chairperson for more information on how you can help.

The Library is open on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30-5pm and at various other times during the week.  See the WAC calendar for when we're open this month.

Club Room Rentals

If you’re planning a party, as a member you can rent the WAC clubroom at special rates.  For a private event, members pay CHF30 per 4 hour rental.  Non-member rates are double.

If you’re interested in renting the WAC for commercial reasons, there is a competitive package available – please ask for more information.

You can check the availability of the rooms in the WAC calendar, and if you would like to reserve the space, please submit a request through the on-line contact form.
